Mart Morey, wife of Rev. Don Morey, was the organizer and first director of the Liberty Christian Church Early Education Center which opened in August, 1972, with three children. This local outreach was a response to the need of working parents for a dependable, well-planned program of care and early education with a Christian influence for children. The Early Education Center became a reality with donations from individuals and groups within the church together with assistance from the community, which welcomed the first church-sponsored child care center in Liberty. Volunteers contributed nearly nine hundred hours in setting up the center.
The Early Education Center is sponsored by the Liberty Christian Church and serves the community as a non-profit organization. It is licensed by the Missouri Department of Health Bureau of Child Care for fifty-two children and operates in full-day sessions, five days per week. Trained early childhood educators, working together with parents, offer a program of activities designed to facilitate the physical, cognitive, and social development of children two through seven years of age.
